The Vancouver Christmas Market is a city favorite since 2010. Sadly cancelled last year due to the pandemic, it finally returns in 2021 with many safety measures in place. As expected, the iconic Jack Poole Plaza is transformed into a German-inspired yuletide destination, featuring vendors from local artisans and mouth-watering delights that satisfy the most epicurean tastes. The event is an ideal place to meet friends and family, escape the daily routine, or simply a chance to bask in festive sights, sounds, and aromas.

Our Pick Of The Pack!

Bavarian pork hocks roasting
As food lovers, our favorite can’t-miss stall is definitely the Haxen Haus, serving their legendary Bavarian roasted pork hocks. The line-up is long, the anticipation is strong, but the crisp skin cracking with melt-in-your-mouth goodness, combined with a generous serving of sauerkraut… the experience is indescribable.

Our next favorite shop is Kenziecards, a women-owned local business known for its quirky charm and witty puns. Offering a ridiculously large collection of cards and stationery products, visitors are sure to find one (or many) that will elicit a heartwarming chuckle.

Art Of Light Gourd Lamps

We were also delighted by the Turkish gourd lamps from the Art of Light. Each individually handmade lamp produces a colorful projection of light and colors. The exquisite craftsmanship is undoubtedly sublime, but for us it’s simply pure magic.

BMW iX at the Vancouver Christmas Market

Visitors can also sneak a peek at the brand new BMW iX, the German automaker’s first fully-electric crossover. Early EV adopters will be pleased to know that local dealerships are already taking preorders with deliveries set for the second quarter of 2022.

Lots More Joy To Go Around!

To be fair, there were countless merchants that caught our eyes and many other interesting things to experience. Notable stops include the Holidaylife Carousel, the Love Lock installation, and the Instagram-friendly Lovers’ Lane. From the live music playing atop the Christmas pyramid to the warm embrace of a mug of Glühwein or apple cider, the atmosphere is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face.

The Vancouver Christmas Market 2021 edition runs from November 13 to December 24. Admission tickets can be purchased in advance online here.
