Virgin Galactic recently secured its place as a leader in space tourism with the successful completion of Galactic 02, its latest suborbital mission. From New Mexico’s Spaceport America, the VSS Unity space plane took flight, carrying six lucky individuals on an extraordinary experience. Virgin Galactic offers us an incredible opportunity to experience space for ourselves with their cutting-edge cameras, giving us an up close view of Earth against its dark backdrop and feel weightlessness for ourselves. Even from here on earth we can vicariously experience these magical moments; with stunning shots outside the Unity and intimate footage inside its cabin as we journey on this magnificent voyage— It truly makes the journey one to remember forever.

Meet the Remarkable Galactic 02 Astronauts
The passengers onboard Unity were an eclectic bunch, each with their own story to share. Keisha Schahaff shared the mesmerizing view with 18-year-old Anastatia Mayers from her family – while Keisha Schahaff accompanied Anastatia on an excursion into space! Mayers from Aberdeen University beautifully expressed his experience: “You felt part of the team, part of the ship, part of the universe and Earth – it was incredible!” Mother and daughter duo didn’t just share an incredible moment; they wrote themselves into history as the first mother-daughter pair and Caribbean nation women ever to fly into space together. Jon Goodwin, an 80-year-old former Olympian who overcame Parkinson’s disease to reach his dream of going into space, joined them for their journey. Virgin Galactic chief astronaut instructor Beth Moses also provided invaluable assistance during their flight.

Virgin Galactic Is Showcasing the Future of Space Travel
Virgin Galactic has pioneered a revolutionary air-launch system to send VSS Unity on her journey into space. VMS Eve lifts Unity up to approximately 50,000 feet before firing its rocket motor and taking its passengers on an unforgettable suborbital experience. Galactic 02 marks only the start of Virgin Galactic’s ambitious plans. Galactic has experienced five test flights culminating in their inaugural commercial mission Galactic 01 and subsequent successes, such as Galactic 2. Looking ahead, their future appears bright. VSS Unity plans on offering this incredible experience once every month. Words simply can’t do justice to its beauty or the emotion evoked from being up in space for the first time; yet through Virgin Galactic missions we may get closer to realizing this promise ourselves!
